Having your personal or work calendar synced to your mobile device can make you that much more effective at managing personal meetings and events. It’s not too difficult to sync Google Calendar with your iPhone device, as long as you are operating iPhone OS 3.0 or higher. You can also sync multiple calendars if you’re also using Google Apps for your workplace.
Here is the how-to guide in four easy steps:
Step 1: Backup your iPhone
Connect your phone to iTunes to make sure you have a sound backup.
Step 2: Setup your iPhone with your Gmail credentials
Navigate through the following steps: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Add Account > Gmail
At the prompt, fill out the fields for your name, email address, and password. If you’re using Google Apps, go ahead and enter your company’s customized domain in the email address field.
Select Next. If your credentials check out, it should say verifying.
Step 3: Select the services you want to sync
You should then see a screen with the services (Mail, Calendar, etc.) that you want to sync from your Google account. Choose which ones you want to turn on, and select Save.
Step 4: Customize which calendars you want to sync (Optional)
At this point, your phone should now be syncing all of your calendar information, and you should see your calendar show up under the iPhone’s Calendar app. If you use multiple calendars within Google Calendar, you may want to take the additional step of customizing which calendars are regularly synchronized with your iPhone.
To do this, launch your iPhone’s browser and visit the website http://m.google.com/sync. Sign in to your Google account, and follow the steps from there to access your calendar settings.
Congratulations, you’ve finished a painless setup to keep your Google calendar synced with your iPhone. You can repeat this with multiple Google accounts to add more calendars into your phone. To delete your calendar, you can access this through settings or visit the website in Step 4 to customize which calendars show up.
